Color Changing Milk
Question: What makes the food coloring spread around the milk?
Let's find out!
Hypothesis: I think changing the type of milk and soap will change the effects of what happens with the colors.
Procedure:
The Science behind itMilk is mostly water but it contains vitamins, minerals, proteins, and tiny droplets of fat suspended in solution. Fats and proteins are sensitive to changes in the surrounding solution.
The secret though, is the droplet of soap. Soap, because of its bipolar characteristics, weakens the chemical bonds that hold the proteins. The soap's hydrophilic end dissolves in water but its hydrophobic end attaches to a fat globule. The molecules of fat bend, roll, twist, and contort in all directions. Meanwhile, the soap molecules race around to join up with the fat molecules. During this, the food coloring molecules are bumped and shoved everywhere, providing an easy way to observe all the invisible activity. As the soap becomes evenly mixed with the milk, the action slows down and eventually stops. |

Conclusions
In conclusion, we think that changing different variables makes the colors do different things, but it still doesn't stop the color magic from happening. We accept our hypothesis because changing the variables made the colors do different things.
